Add Multiple CPU support to Digital Rapids Stream 1.5
Stream 1.5 has not been updated in a long time and so does not provide multiple CPU support when encoding MPEG video. This is quite annoying when encoding at max quality and you drop frames because your 8 cores are not being used! You can add multiple CPU support by updating a couple of DLL files.
Firstly download and install a copy of MainConcept's Reference (the demo is fine):
http://www.mainconcept.com/site/prosumer-products-4/mainconcept-referenc...
Once you've got this installed find the folder named plugins which is inside C:\Program Files\MainConcept\Reference\. From here you need to copy out the files named:
mcmpgmux.dll
mcmpgaout.dll
mcpcmaout.dll
mcmpgvout.001
mcmpgvout.002
mcmpgvout.003
mcmpgvout.004
mcmpgvout.dll
rename these to:
mpgmux.dll
mpgaout.dll
pcmaout.dll
mpgvout.001
mpgvout.002
mpgvout.003
mpgvout.004
mpgvout.dll
Now open the C:\Program Files\Digital Rapids\Stream folder and add .bak to these files or copy them to a safe place in case things go wrong:
mpgmux.dll
mpgaout.dll
pcmaout.dll
mpgvout.001
mpgvout.002
mpgvout.003
mpgvout.004
mpgvout.dll
Now just replace the files in C:\Program Files\Digital Rapids\Stream with the new versions taken from Reference.
Voila! You now have the multithreaded encoding support!
